The Ticketmaster hack has a long reach. Don’t believe me? Are you a Taylor Swift fan? Maybe you have little ones who love Disney on Ice? Perhaps your dream ticket is the Kentucky Derby or the Super Bowl? Whatever your live entertainment preference is, you have likely dealt with Ticketmaster. You have probably cursed their high prices and hidden fees. Well, now you have another reason to hate the ticketing behemoth.
In a May 20 security filing, Ticketmaster’s owner, Live Nation, admitted that there was “unauthorized activity within a third-party cloud database environment containing Company data.” The hacking group Shiny Hunters is claiming that it obtained user data, including names, addresses, phone numbers, order details, and credit card information for 560 million users. Reports are already that this data is being sold on the dark web.
“We are working to mitigate risk to our users and the company, and have notified and are cooperating with law enforcement,” Live Nation said. “As appropriate, we are also notifying regulatory authorities and users about unauthorized access to personal information.”
As the investigation into this breach continues, it’s important to note that Live Nation/Ticketmaster has not yet contacted individual customers whose data was compromised.

Change your password, monitor your bank and credit card statements for any suspicious activity, and be extra cautious with your phone calls and emails to avoid falling victim to scams.
