You may be aware of cyber phishing emails that try to get your personal information, like credit card numbers or passwords, but recently, there has been an increase in text message phishing (Smishing) attacks.
These messages could appear to come from delivery services like FedEx or UPS with a link to check on your shipment.
Never click a link in a text from someone you don’t know. Instead, check with the company.
Another text scam may appear to be from a bank, cell phone company, or other service saying your account has been hacked.
NEVER reply by giving out PIN numbers, Social Security numbers, or any other personal information. Contact the company directly.
Lastly, the IRS will NOT send you a text message. They will send you a letter by mail. Don’t fall for these traps. Be Cyber Smart!
