Cyber secure means that you can deter an attack or can recover quickly with little to no damage from an attack.
We are a perfect example. This week, Commonwealth Sentinel’s website was hit with hundreds of attack attempts from the same IP address in Singapore.
Thanks to regular patching and having the proper security protocols, we shut down this attack before it did any damage.
This attack is the perfect time to remind readers that this week is Patch Tuesday for March. Be sure to patch your systems to fix 80 Windows vulnerabilities (including one in Outlook).
This week, the FBI, CISA, and the Multi-State ISAC released a joint cyber security advisory (CSA) on the LockBit 3.0 ransomware. It details indicators of compromise and the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) associated with LockBit 3.0. The advisory provides recommendations on protection, detection, and response to this ransomware.
The entire CSA is available at https://www.cisa.gov/news-events/cybersecurity-advisories/aa23-075a. CISA also has a checklist of steps to take if a ransomware attack hits available: https://www.cisa.gov/stopransomware/ive-been-hit-ransomware.
