Co-Founder / Chief Business Development Officer
Kim Vanderoort is co-founder and Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) with Commonwealth Sentinel. She brings years of experience of working with local governments in providing assistance and solutions to county needs.
During Governor Paul Patton’s administration, Kim served as liaison with local officials assisting in constituent relations.
In her role at the Public Service Commission, she interacted with all utilities across the state of Kentucky and assisted in legislative initiatives to help better serve the citizens of the Commonwealth.
During her time at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Kim served as the chief legislative liaison coordinating the legislative agenda and lobbying efforts of the Cabinet and representing the Cabinet before the General Assembly, working closely with Governor Steve Beshear’s Office, transportation contractors, federal agencies, and other stakeholders.
In addition to this role, she served as the Transportation Cabinet’s Small Business Ombudsman, where she was responsible for responding to inquiries from small businesses on administrative regulations and other regulatory matters where she strived to serve as a neutral resource to facilitate fair, equitable, and expeditious conflict resolution between the Cabinet and small businesses across the Commonwealth.
In the private sector, Kim worked for Peel & Holland Insurance providing the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) member exclusive employee health benefits to county governments and government subdivisions.
Kim received her BA in Organizational Management from Midway University.
Kim and her husband Jacob live in Frankfort where she is the Vice President of the South Frankfort Neighborhood Association, served on the Franklin County United Way Board, and is an advocate and supporter of local charities.
